Assistant Controller (Healthcare)

Location: Hybrid in Baltimore, US, with in-office work 2–3 days per week.

Salary: $165,000 annual; Baltimore direct hire.

Growing healthcare organization with a finance function supporting healthcare operations and strategic growth.

What you will do

• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation.
• Manage general ledger activities, account reconciliations, reporting schedules, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning support.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies, conduct technical accounting research, and implement new accounting standards.
• Coordinate external audits and tax reporting requirements while developing internal controls and improving accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
• Partner with operational leadership, prepare reporting packages for executives, lenders, investors, and board members, and provide financial insights.
• Mentor accounting team members and participate in acquisition integrations, due diligence, and strategic finance projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation is required.
• 3–5+ years of Big 4 public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Experience supporting audits and managing external auditor relationships.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP or accounting systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, healthcare services, physician practice management, revenue cycle, or a multi-site service organization.
• Experience in a public company or private equity-backed portfolio company accounting leadership role.
• Experience with private equity-backed organizations experiencing rapid growth.
• Exposure to financial reporting in a multi-entity environment.
• Experience improving accounting processes, implementing controls, and driving automation initiatives.
