Corporate Accounting (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA; hybrid, with staff expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time. Some roles may require more office attendance.

Annual salary: $160,000–$190,000 USD.

What you will do

• Own month-end and quarter-end close activities for assigned accounts and entities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and flux analyses, investigate variances to root cause, and explain results to reviewers and business partners.
• Maintain US GAAP schedules and documentation for areas such as prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, and intercompany balances.
• Draft accounting memos and process documentation, escalating non-routine items to Technical Accounting with a proposed treatment.
• Execute internal controls, prepare external audit support, review work from contractors and team members, and provide feedback.
• Improve and automate accounting processes, including the use of Claude and other AI tools, and support system changes through testing, data validation, and documentation.

Requirements

• Hands-on working knowledge of US GAAP applied to monthly close activities, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement support.
• Experience preparing account reconciliations and flux analyses in an ERP or general ledger system such as Workday, NetSuite, or equivalent.
• Strong spreadsheet skills, including lookups, pivot tables, and reconciliation of large data sets in Excel or Google Sheets.
• Experience supporting external audits and operating internal controls.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining accounting results to non-accountants.
• Sound judgment about resolving issues independently versus escalating them.
• Strong attention to detail and ownership, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; relevant field of study demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice to have

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, industry, or a combination of both.
• CPA, ACA, ACCA, or CA qualification, or progress toward one.
• Experience improving processes in a fast-moving environment where processes were still being defined.
• Familiarity with ASC 842, ASC 718, ASC 606, fixed assets, or multi-entity and intercompany accounting.
• Experience with close management or reconciliation tools, or SQL or Python for data analysis.
• Experience with an ERP migration, SOX readiness, or public company reporting.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate accounting or finance work with reviewable checks.
• Interest in AI and Anthropic’s mission to build reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems.
