Deployment Engineer (Logistics/Automation)

Location: Lehi, Utah, US; hybrid workplace; travel up to 25% to national fulfillment hubs and potentially more during major site buildouts.

What you will do

• Lead new facility design projects from concept through execution, integrating facility layouts with automated systems.
• Develop and maintain AutoCAD drawings, layouts, and design documentation for new builds, expansions, and retrofits.
• Manage capital planning, vendor cost estimates, budgets, ROI analyses, and project prioritization.
• Direct end-to-end automation and facility projects involving conveying, material handling, and package sorting systems.
• Coordinate 20–30 internal and external stakeholder groups, including facilities, maintenance, finance, logistics, operations, and vendors.
• Conduct engineering analyses, process redesigns, commissioning, construction coordination, and continuous operational efficiency improvements.

Requirements

• B.S. in Engineering, specifically Industrial, Mechanical, or a related field, with 3+ years of project management experience on large-scale capital or facilities projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for facility layouts and design documentation.
• Strong background in warehouse, logistics, or industrial design, including familiarity with automation systems such as conveyors, sorters, and material handling equipment.
• High fluency in Microsoft Excel for complex data analysis and analytical modeling, including the use of AI tools such as Claude to streamline operations.
• Ability to manage cross-functional teams and external partners without direct authority and drive project accountability.
• Comfort with ambiguity, an outcomes-driven mindset, and willingness to travel approximately 25% as deployment schedules require.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage risks, track timelines, troubleshoot proactively, build cross-functional rapport, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

Nice to have

• Experience with FlexSim simulation software.
• Ability to write Excel Macros/VBA for automated engineering data processing.
• Financial modeling experience, specifically conducting ROI analyses for capital expenditures.
• Background in ecommerce fulfillment center launches or conveyor/sortation system commissioning.
