Executive Director, Digital Transformation & Delivery Excellence (AI)

Location: Rahway, New Jersey, United States; hybrid work arrangement. This posting is for residents of the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Salary: $255,800–$402,700 per year, plus annual bonus and long-term incentive eligibility where applicable.

What you will do

• Advise the Chief Information & Digital Officer and IT leadership on investment options, trade-offs, ROI, portfolio priorities, and transformation roadmaps.
• Lead complex, enterprise-wide transformation programs across independent business units and federated IT organizations.
• Establish portfolio governance, operating rhythms, value milestones, executive reporting, and continuous operating model optimization.
• Resolve cross-divisional friction, resource constraints, integration roadblocks, and distressed program situations.
• Scale modern digital capabilities, including advanced data pipelines, generative AI, and practical agentic AI solutions.
• Modernize IT talent, processes, software development lifecycle practices, CI/CD, and value-stream-aligned ways of working.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, business administration, or a related field.
• 15+ years of progressive technology leadership, IT strategy, and large-scale enterprise transformation experience in a complex, matrixed global enterprise.
• Experience leading global-scale programs across multiple independent business units and federated IT groups without direct hierarchical control.
• Verifiable turnaround, recovery, or interim leadership experience rescuing distressed technical programs or organizational initiatives.
• Extensive experience advising C-suite executives, partnering with executive committees, and participating in board-level strategy and governance presentations.
• Foundational understanding of modern software architecture, public cloud environments including AWS, Azure, or GCP, API-first integration, DevSecOps pipelines, and legacy migration.
• Working familiarity with enterprise data governance, machine learning operations, and generative or agentic AI deployment patterns.
• Deep technology financial management expertise, including business cases, TCO optimization, vendor negotiations, and capital and operating expenditure governance.
• Leadership experience in biopharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare, financial services, or another heavily regulated environment, plus familiarity with the biopharmaceutical value chain.
• Ability to build, mentor, and lead senior directors, technical leaders, and matrixed delivery pods.

Nice to have

• Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Computer Science, Information Science, or an equivalent advanced degree.
• Experience in top-tier management consulting, enterprise transformation advisory, or technology strategy firms.
