Vehicle Application Engineer (Automotive)

Location: Auburn Hills, United States. Travel to proving grounds and customer locations primarily within the United States is required, approximately 30–40%, including some multi-week assignments.

What you will do

• Develop, calibrate, and validate Active Safety and Motion Control functions for passenger vehicles, including ABS, TCS, ESC, AEB, ACC, HSA, and AVH.
• Execute vehicle testing and validation according to internal standards and customer specifications.
• Analyze test data, identify performance issues, and support root-cause investigations.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and validation reports.
• Support vehicle integration and collaborate with systems, software, hardware, and customer engineering teams.
• Document and communicate technical findings, recommendations, and project status.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Understanding of vehicle dynamics, automotive control systems, and testing methodologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a vehicle testing environment, demonstrate attention to detail, and take ownership of assigned tasks.
• Effective teamwork and customer interaction skills.
• Confidence operating vehicles in dynamic and performance-driving test environments.
• Valid driver’s license and legal authorization to work in the U.S. are required.
• Flexibility to support frequent travel and demanding vehicle development schedules.

Nice to have

• Experience through internships, co-ops, Formula SAE, or automotive projects related to vehicle dynamics, controls, or vehicle testing.
• Experience with vehicle dynamics evaluations, track testing, performance driving, autocross, or motorsports activities.
• Familiarity with CAN tools, data acquisition systems, and vehicle network communication.
• Passion for automotive technology and hands-on vehicle development.
