V&V Engineer, Electrical (Automotive)

What you will do

• Characterize vehicles and derive electrical requirements down to module and component level with bidirectional traceability to test evidence.
• Own electrical DVP&R activities, including functional, performance, EMC/EMI, electrical stress, and robustness testing on prototype and production-intent hardware.
• Build and maintain custom test fixtures, troubleshoot electrical functionality and compatibility issues, lead root cause analysis, and drive corrective actions to closure.
• Partner with design, systems, quality, and software engineering teams to integrate electrical V&V and Design for Test into wider programs.
• Manage compliance testing and certification, coordinate external accredited laboratories, and maintain test reports, compliance logs, and certification documentation.
• Build and evolve electrical V&V methodology, laboratory capability, and toolchain; assess OEM DV/PV processes and advise on effort, complexity, and cost.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in an Electrical V&V role, preferably in automotive or heavy vehicles.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
• Understanding of all aspects of an automotive DV/PV process and deep understanding of the automotive PPAP process.
• Working knowledge of automotive APQP and AEC standards.
• Direct experience working with Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.
• Practical knowledge of international automotive environmental and EMC standards, including SAE J1455, ISO 11451/11452, or MIL-STD-810.
• Ability to adjust V&V processes to support various OEMs.
• Direct experience characterizing vehicles to set environmental and EMC requirements for new projects or OEMs.

Nice to have

• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Technical experience developing self-driving vehicles.
• Experience with NRTL/UL and CE certification.
• Experience with SolidWorks, ANSYS, or Polarion.
• Experience designing and building HIL test benches and automating regression testing.
• Experience with accelerated life testing, HALT/HASS, and Weibull or reliability demonstration analysis.
• Ability to perform risk analysis and prevention, FMEA, FTA, and RCA.
• Experience with CANbus, Python, Shell, Unix OS, or SPICE.
