Senior or Staff Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Remote, United States; successful finalists must attend an on-site interview.

Salary: USD $160,000–$245,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own one or more integration domains end-to-end, including roadmaps, architecture decisions, trade-offs, and delivery.
• Build and evolve shared integration and parser frameworks, improving performance, reliability, testability, and abstraction quality.
• Develop production-grade microservice integrations using REST, GraphQL, streaming APIs, MCP, and LLM-powered automation.
• Design parsing and normalization components that convert security data from hundreds of sources into a unified schema.
• Partner with detection and data teams to ensure ingested data supports downstream use cases.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote effective use of AI tools, scripting, automated testing, deployments, monitoring, and incident triage.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of backend software development experience, including integration, data parsing, or log processing, plus 1+ year as a technical lead or proven experience taking full ownership of a project.
• Strong proficiency in at least one general-purpose language, such as Python, Go, Java, or C++, with production-quality coding experience.
• Experience designing and integrating APIs, including REST, GraphQL, streaming APIs, OAuth, API keys, and rate limiting.
• Knowledge of JSON, XML, CSV, syslog, key-value and unstructured text formats, regular expressions, data normalization, and schema design.
• Demonstrated regular production use of AI tools such as Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or ChatGPT to accelerate engineering workflows, with the judgment to validate AI output.
• Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Cybersecurity experience with SOAR, EDR, SIEM, XDR, firewalls, IDS/IPS, cloud security services, or related security-tool data.
• Experience building and operating production microservices, large-scale data processing systems, real-time pipelines, or event-driven architectures such as Kafka or Spark.
• Experience with distributed systems, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Celery, Airflow, or similar orchestration frameworks.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, GCP, CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Cloud Logging, Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Experience integrating AI services, LLM APIs, embedding services, MCP, function calling, agent orchestration frameworks, or LLM-based product workflows.
• Experience using LLMs for log analysis, parser generation, schema inference, or AI-assisted data engineering tooling.
