Senior II Software Engineer - Data Services

Location: Canada (Remote); office address listed in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Base salary: 120,400–216,600 CAD/year. Additional compensation may include annual bonuses or incentives, equity awards, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

What you will do

• Design, build, and scale backend data services and APIs for high-throughput, low-latency workloads.
• Architect and evolve microservices, including service boundaries, communication patterns, and failure isolation.
• Design distributed systems for scalability, fault tolerance, consistency, and reliability across multiple regions.
• Optimize and maintain PostgreSQL and Oracle databases, schemas, indexing strategies, and high-availability configurations.
• Build and maintain high-volume, high-velocity data pipelines while owning services end to end.
• Diagnose complex performance, scalability, and reliability issues and mentor engineers on system design.

Requirements

• 8 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Python, Java, or Go and the ability to write production-grade, maintainable backend code.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational databases, including schema design, query optimization, and high-availability configurations.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling microservices architectures in production environments.
• Knowledge of DBA tasks, data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis.
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs, containerization, orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and major cloud platforms.
