Cybersecurity Engineer (AI)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field

Annual base salary: $130,200–$195,400 USD for the primary location; additional US locations: $117,800–$210,000 USD. Colorado range: $124,000–$186,000 USD.

What you will do

• Build and own evaluation harnesses, agent scaffolds, and application UIs for cybersecurity teams.
• Design and evolve shared schemas and data contracts for agents and human users.
• Turn ambiguous partner requests into scoped, reviewed, shipped, and operational solutions.
• Develop integrations across SOAR, SIEM, vulnerability scanners, ticketing, and enterprise platforms.
• Establish reusable AI-augmented engineering practices, code review discipline, tracing, and evaluation.
• Prototype, test, ship, monitor, and continuously improve security applications and agent systems.

Requirements

• Strong Python skills with production experience building APIs, services, batch jobs, or application backends.
• Experience building or evaluating LLM or agent systems, or strong software engineering fundamentals with demonstrated AI-augmented development.
• Experience designing schemas, data contracts, and application UIs using real data.
• Working knowledge of identity and access, secrets handling, secure-by-default configuration, and common security data.
• Experience with testing, code review, runbooks, observability, and operational ownership.
• Ability to work in the USA with the stated hybrid office or field schedule.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LangSmith, LLM-as-judge, offline evaluation, tracing, or agent observability.
• Frontend experience with React or similar technologies for internal security tools.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM, vulnerability scanners, identity systems, Tines, or other security orchestration platforms.
• AWS familiarity and experience with Terraform or Docker.
