Senior Electrical Engineer II, Power & Propulsion (Drones)

What you will do

• Architect power supply and distribution systems for drones and ground equipment, from battery input protection through point-of-load regulation.
• Lead electronic speed controller development, including three-phase power stages, gate drive, current sensing, protection, and motor-control firmware integration.
• Build and lead development of battery packs, BMS, and a battery charging platform, including pack interfaces, cell protection, monitoring, and charge profiles.
• Establish design standards covering derating, power integrity, design reviews, and validation coverage.
• Perform schematic capture, PCB layout review, board bring-up, characterization, flight testing, and production release.
• Hire, mentor, and lead electrical engineers delivering the new product development roadmap.

Requirements

• 8+ years of electrical hardware engineering experience, including ownership of power conversion hardware from concept through production.
• Experience leading engineers as a technical lead, project lead, or people manager, with direct involvement in interviewing and hiring.
• Power stage design experience with high-current switching converters, gate drive, protection circuits, and FET and magnetics selection.
• Strong power integrity fundamentals, including control loop stability, transient response, decoupling and PDN design, and high-current layout.
• Hands-on PCB design experience, including schematic capture and layout of high-current, mixed-signal boards in Altium or a comparable ECAD tool.
• Mixed-signal and embedded design experience, including microcontroller-based designs.
• Board bring-up and characterization using oscilloscopes, current probes, loop analyzers, electronic loads, and power analyzers.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.

Nice to have

• ESC or motor-drive design for BLDC or PMSM motors, including six-step and field-oriented control (FOC).
• Working knowledge of lithium battery packs, including cell protection, BMS, and charging.
• People management experience, including performance reviews and career development.
• EMC and environmental qualification experience, including MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810.
• UAV, eVTOL, aerospace, or robotics hardware taken through a production ramp with a contract manufacturer.
