Backend Engineer (Python/Go)

Location: Hybrid, based in San Francisco; office attendance 3 days per week, with Mondays and Wednesdays as anchor days.

Salary: $140,000–$215,000 annually for Tier 1 (San Francisco), plus equity.

What you will do

• Build projects from design through launch across established and new products.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and deliver solutions.
• Contribute to technical discussions and balance short-term delivery with long-term architecture.
• Build and operate high-throughput backend services, queues, and storage systems for data ingestion.
• Improve the performance and reliability of services, database queries, endpoints, and caching across critical workflows.
• Maintain strong engineering practices, including code review, test coverage, observability, and on-call support.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience building backend applications.
• Product-minded approach with attention to user problems as well as implementation.
• Comfort working with unclear problems and rapid change.
• Strong Python or Go experience, or backend experience in another language with willingness to work across Python and Go.
• Familiarity with queues, object storage, and relational or time-series databases.
• Experience debugging production problems using metrics and logs.
• User-centric, empathetic, and passionate approach to engineering.

Nice to have

• AI/LLM product experience.
• Startup experience.
