Mechanical Engineer, Staff (Defense)

Location: Dahlgren, Virginia, United States. Full-time onsite role with up to 20% travel; Secret clearance required or ability to obtain and maintain the required DoD/Navy clearance.

Salary: $87,000–$130,000 per year.

Engineering role supporting NSWCDD through system-level and component-level technical documentation for hardware, cabling, wiring, information systems, and processing systems.

What you will do

• Create and analyze system-level and component-level technical engineering documentation.
• Develop documentation in accordance with ASME Y14 Series Standards.
• Support Technical Data Packages, Installation Control Drawings, and Interface Control Documents.
• Develop hardware and cabling/wiring documentation for information and processing systems.
• Use Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks for computations, 3D modeling, design simulation, and design changes.
• Coordinate mechanical engineering products with design, documentation, installation, and Government stakeholders.

Requirements

• Mechanical Engineering degree and four years of experience.
• Experience creating or analyzing system-level and component-level technical engineering documentation in accordance with ASME Y14 Series Standards.
• Experience with Technical Data Packages, Installation Control Drawings, and Interface Control Documents for hardware and cabling/wiring of information and processing systems.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
• Ability to use 3D modeling for computations, modeling and simulating new designs, and facilitating changes to existing designs.
• Experience using state-of-the-art software to create multi-dimensional models of systems and components.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the DoD/Navy clearance required by the final DD254/JPAS.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting Navy or DoD information and processing systems.
• Experience developing technical data packages, installation drawings, interface control documents, hardware documentation, or cabling/wiring documentation.
• Experience applying ASME Y14 standards in a defense engineering environment.
