R&D Engineer (Welding)

Location: On-site in Los Angeles, California, United States. The role requires U.S. citizenship or nationality, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the authorizations required under ITAR.

Salary: $150K–$210K annually, plus equity.

What you will do

• Support welding equipment requirements, including CAD support for purchasing and setting up new equipment.
• Develop concepts for automation, tooling, fixtures, and development parts.
• Work directly with welding engineers and welders to weld parts in a development environment.
• Translate development needs into tooled-up, automatable welding processes and bridge development with production.
• Coordinate with Build, Software, Tooling, Automation, and NDT teams to keep weld development unblocked.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in manufacturing or mechanical design.
• Proficiency in CAD, including SolidWorks, NX, or equivalent, with working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Comfort with shop-floor tooling, fixtures, and metrology.
• Exposure to machining, assembly, welding, additive manufacturing, and inspection processes.
• Prior hands-on welding or weld-process experience.
• Experience designing tooling or fixtures for automated or robotic welding cells.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and requirements.
• Ability to thrive in an undefined, first-of-its-kind role.
