Purchasing Specialist, Direct Materials (Lab Consumables/Raw Materials)

Location: Piscataway, New Jersey, United States; onsite 4 days per week

Salary: $65,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience

What you will do

• Oversee material planning and replenishment for Green Channel items to meet inventory KPIs and maintain continuity of supply.
• Lead strategic sourcing and procurement of direct materials and consumables used in production.
• Develop alternative vendors for critical materials and components to mitigate supply chain risks.
• Manage category strategy, vendor relationships, business reviews, pricing contracts, and Master Supply Agreements.
• Negotiate contracts, identify cost-saving opportunities, and track cost savings, cost avoidance, on-time delivery, and efficiency KPIs.
• Collaborate with production, quality, finance, legal, and other departments to support compliance, supply continuity, and audit readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 2–4 years of procurement experience focused on direct materials.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
• Project management skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, adapt to shifting priorities, and identify opportunities.

Nice to have

• Experience with procurement for lab projects is preferred and considered a significant advantage.
