Procurement Specialist (Manufacturing)

Location: Bristol and Preston, Connecticut, United States; onsite facility-based role

What you will do

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with facility needs, spend categories, and corporate procurement objectives.
• Identify, qualify, onboard, develop, and manage suppliers, including supplier performance and quality oversight.
• Lead requests for information, quotations, and proposals, including bid solicitation, commercial evaluation, pricing analysis, market comparisons, and supplier selection.
• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, and Corporate Procurement to define scopes of work, technical requirements, supplier expectations, and service requirements.
• Negotiate commercial terms, coordinate contract review and execution, manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve supplier disputes and performance concerns.
• Analyze procurement, cost, supplier, inventory, and shipment data; support budgets, cost-reduction initiatives, maintenance spare-parts transfers, and process training.

Requirements

• At least three years of relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing, supply chain, contract administration, supplier management, or industrial operations.
• Working knowledge of strategic sourcing, supplier qualification and development, competitive bidding, commercial negotiations, and contract management.
• Experience purchasing or managing services, including reviewing scopes of work, evaluating labor hours and costs, and comparing supplier proposals with technical stakeholders.
• Experience using procurement, supply chain, or ERP platforms for quoting, bidding, purchase orders, and delivery tracking; Jaggaer is preferred, while PeopleSoft or comparable systems are accepted.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and VLOOKUP, for spend analysis, bid comparison, and procurement decisions.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills, including professionally handling confrontational conversations, resolving disagreements, and maintaining productive supplier and stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to explain the business reasons behind procurement requirements, educate stakeholders, and build support for process changes despite resistance.
• Sound analytical skills and business judgment, with the ability to balance plant needs, supplier capabilities, quality, service, and cost while managing competing priorities independently and across teams.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting manufacturing, energy, utilities, power generation, or other industrial environments.
• Experience with maintenance services, MRO, packaging, indirect procurement, or capital projects.
• Demonstrated success developing suppliers, reducing costs, improving supplier performance, or strengthening procurement processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Finance, or a related field.
