Senior Full Stack Kotlin Developer (Kotlin)

Location: United Kingdom; candidates must be within reasonable travelling distance of an office in Leeds, Glasgow, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, London, or Bristol. The role requires flexibility to work on-site at a hirify.global office or client location at least 2 days per week and to travel as needed. Relocation support of up to £8,000 is available.

What you will do

• Lead the production of user-centred software in line with business requirements and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to explore, design, and deliver solutions to complex problems.
• Own software development and deployment pipelines, resolving issues and potential bottlenecks.
• Communicate and present prototypes, solutions, and delivery progress to internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor and coach engineers to support their professional development and ensure technical excellence within squads.

Requirements

• Extensive experience with Kotlin and the JVM.
• Strong experience with Java and the full development lifecycle for user-centred digital solutions.
• Exposure to Node, TypeScript, Express, or Nunjucks.
• Proven experience delivering high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions.
• Expertise in building backend services with Spring Boot and the wider Spring Framework.
• Experience with microservices design and architecture, including RESTful API services.
• Strong knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and DevOps practices including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.

Nice to have

• Experience working on GOV or NHS projects or in a consultancy environment.
• Knowledge of Kafka or other asynchronous messaging systems.
• Knowledge of Helm.
