Consultant, Backend Developer (Java)

Location: Toronto, ON, Canada; hybrid work with 1–3 days per week on-site and the remaining days remote. Candidates must be legally eligible to work at the specified location and may need a valid work or study permit.

What you will do

• Lead hands-on development and implementation of complex, enterprise-scale solutions for hirify.global’s digital channels.
• Design APIs from business requirements and high-level designs, applying appropriate patterns and best practices.
• Develop complex system and business logic using modern development concepts and processes.
• Lead next-level operational support, troubleshooting, problem solving, and performance tuning.
• Support the transition of systems to cloud platforms and contribute to digital transformation initiatives.
• Coach junior developers and provide technical guidance to the technology team.

Requirements

• 8–10 years of solid hands-on experience in an enterprise environment with Java/J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, web services, microservices, and API development.
• Experience with SOAP, JSON, and RESTful web services.
• Ability to design APIs, implement complex system and business logic, and apply modern development practices.
• Experience with problem solving, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and operational support.
• Ability to coach and provide technical guidance to junior developers.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to collective team success.
• Passion for technology trends, innovative solutions, evolving technologies, and continuous learning.
• High standards, genuine care for professional relationships, and alignment with the organization’s values.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada at the specified location; a valid work or study permit may be required.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Experience with cloud environments such as Kubernetes, Azure, OpenShift Container Platform, or equivalent.
