Residence Life Area Coordinator

Location: Canyon, Texas, United States. Full-time live-in position on campus.

Salary: $35,568.00–$43,888.08 annually, depending on education and experience.

What you will do

• Manage the day-to-day administrative and operational activities of a residence hall serving 175–300 primarily first- and second-year students.
• Report and follow up on maintenance, cleaning, safety, and security concerns, and oversee programming and staff development budgets.
• Participate in a year-round on-call crisis rotation for a residential population of approximately 2,000 undergraduate students.
• Develop and implement student-development programming, including Living Learning Communities, to support student success and retention.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate 5–8 Community Advisors through staff meetings and regular one-on-one meetings.
• Support students with personal, academic, social, and behavioral concerns; make referrals, advise an in-hall student leadership organization, and serve on committees.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one year of experience in student affairs, including undergraduate or graduate work.
• Active driver’s license.
• Strong supervisory, counseling, organizational, administrative, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and relate to students, parents, faculty, and staff.
• Experience developing and administering Living Learning Communities in a residence hall.
• Ability to complete all required System, University, and job-specific online training courses on time.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout employment.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, counseling, or a related field.
• Three years of experience working in collegiate residence life in a live-in position, including undergraduate or graduate work.
• Knowledge of StarRez, Roompact, and/or Maxient software.
• Understanding of student development practices and a proven record of applying theory to practice.
• Experience continuing the development of Living Learning Communities related to student success.
• Experience with theme- or interest-based upperclassmen housing.
