Extension Assistant (Water Science)

Location: College Station, Texas; work takes place in office, classroom, outdoor, and field environments, with statewide travel throughout Texas, occasional evenings and weekends, and more extensive summer travel for leadership academies.

What you will do

• Support hands-on educational programs covering water quality, conservation, watersheds, groundwater, surface water, irrigation, wastewater treatment, rainwater harvesting, and emerging water issues.
• Plan and conduct 4-H Water Ambassadors academies, retreats, workshops, tours, leadership events, and educational activities.
• Facilitate youth activities, games, team-building exercises, leadership development, recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring.
• Create and update curricula, presentations, publications, videos, social media content, promotional materials, and program resources.
• Coordinate participant communications, registration, travel, facilities, meals, lodging, supplies, purchasing, and on-site event logistics.
• Collect evaluations and program metrics, maintain participation and stakeholder records, and contribute to sponsor and AgriLife impact reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, STEM Education, Agricultural Engineering, Ag Systems Management, or a related field.
• Experience working with youth, volunteers, educational programs, or Extension-related activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple projects and events simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and online communication tools.
• Ability to travel throughout Texas, work occasional evenings and weekends, and work more extensively during summer leadership academies.
• Ability to interact frequently with youth, volunteers, educators, industry partners, and Extension personnel.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering youth education.
• Knowledge of water resources, environmental education, conservation, or STEM programming.
• Experience coordinating events, camps, workshops, or conferences.
• Familiarity with social media, graphic design, and educational technology platforms.
