System Analyst - Level 2 (Virtualization)

What you will do

• Administer, maintain, design, implement, and monitor enterprise virtualization platforms including VMware, Nutanix AHV, and Cisco UCS.
• Troubleshoot system failures and resolve virtualization, storage, backup, and recovery issues.
• Perform platform maintenance, system upgrades, patch management, vulnerability and threat management, and application migrations.
• Provide Tier 3 incident management, technical support, monitoring assistance, documentation, and communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Coordinate with engineering, IT operations, application development, database, operating system administration teams, and vendors to deliver stable and performant environments.
• Participate in the on-call schedule and provide technical leadership and mentoring to support performance, availability, and recoverability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or four years of equivalent technical experience.
• Four years of related experience with hardware, software, peripherals, practices, policies, and procedures.
• Four years of systems administration experience with Cisco UCS, VMware, and/or Nutanix platforms, including SAN/NAS storage using Fibre Channel and iSCSI.
• Experience with Active Directory, Intel hardware and peripheral installation and maintenance, and software packaging.
• Experience with PowerShell and other scripting languages for interacting with APIs.
• Experience with Ansible or other configuration management technologies.
• Experience deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS and/or Azure.
• Strong analytical, evaluative, problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, documentation, prioritization, and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work across multiple teams, understand business requirements, recommend technology strategies based on Duke standards, and guide or mentor junior team members.

Nice to have

• For Level 3 progression: a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or five years of equivalent technical experience.
• For Level 3 progression: five or more years of systems administration experience with Cisco UCS, VMware, and/or Nutanix platforms.
• For Level 3 progression: ability to understand and build upon virtual infrastructure designs and develop new virtualization solutions.
• For Level 3 progression: experience managing public cloud services including AWS and/or Azure.
