Distinguished Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Onsite at Crossman Respect Building, 1375 Crossman Ave, Sunnyvale, California, United States

Annual salary: $169,000–$338,000, plus performance-based bonuses and possible stock compensation.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered software systems and intelligent automation solutions.
• Write production-quality code, build automated tests, and own implementations through production deployment.
• Translate domain strategies into system-level implementations while maintaining architectural integrity and reliability.
• Drive operational excellence through technical guidance, code reviews, architectural decisions, DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and performance improvements.
• Identify architectural bottlenecks, automate manual processes, and improve the developer experience.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across teams and stakeholders to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Requirements

• Hands-on coding expertise, current coding practice, and the ability and willingness to own detailed design, production code, automated quality, and production deployment end to end.
• Extensive experience leading the design and development of scalable, cloud-native software systems and AI-powered solutions.
• Strong expertise in operational excellence, including DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and incident management.
• Experience driving continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks and automating manual processes.
• Exceptional problem-solving and debugging capabilities focused on platform design and development.
• Effective collaboration and mentorship skills, with sound technical judgment and adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs.
• Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area, plus 6 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
• Option 2: 8 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area, plus 4 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
• Experience creating inclusive digital experiences and implementing WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
