Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Cash range: $195K–$229K, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and improve background-agent infrastructure for reliable, trackable, and repeatable automated engineering work.
• Develop agent evaluation systems using task outcomes, quality measures, human intervention, cost, and other signals.
• Create evaluation sets and feedback loops for continuous AI system tuning, review, and correction.
• Improve the discovery, adoption, documentation, and usability of shared AI tools and developer workflows.
• Evaluate and integrate AI development tools for code generation, AI-assisted review, and testing based on real engineering needs.
• Improve code review workflows, observability, reliability, security, and the foundations of an autonomous software factory while partnering with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders.

Requirements

• Substantial industry software engineering experience.
• Experience taking technical leadership roles on teams or complex projects.
• Experience improving AI systems, creating evaluation sets, and driving quality improvement through measurement and iteration.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience designing, building, testing, and operating reliable systems.
• Experience with developer tooling, AI-enabled workflows, agentic systems, infrastructure, or related technical domains.
• Ability to work through ambiguity, decompose complex problems, manage dependencies, and help projects reach completion.
• Experience working in rapidly scaling startups or larger companies with a strong bias for action.
• Hands-on, action-oriented approach with willingness to engage directly with users.
• Strong product judgment, technical opinions, curiosity, written and verbal communication, and collaborative teamwork.
• Uses AI in day-to-day work, builds fluency through experimentation, and applies sound judgment to maintain a high quality bar.
