Senior Project Manager (Plumbing and Fire Protection)

Location: New York, NY, US; hybrid work arrangement.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 annually.

What you will do

• Manage technical and administrative aspects of plumbing and fire-protection design opportunities from proposal preparation through final client acceptance, including budgets, schedules, change orders, invoices, and accounts receivable.
• Lead plumbing and fire-protection engineering design for multifamily, commercial, industrial, retail, mixed-use, existing-building, and ground-up construction projects.
• Coordinate water, waste, gas, wet, dry, and pre-action sprinkler systems with electrical, mechanical, structural, fire/life-safety, and project management disciplines.
• Supervise staff designers and engineers preparing schematic, filing, construction drawings, specifications, bidding documents, and related submissions in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Review site investigations, calculations, technical reports, design work, construction administration, and inspections; periodically inspect contractor and staff work and prepare summary documentation.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, vendors, consultants, and city and state construction or energy agencies while mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• At least 10 years of professional experience designing plumbing and fire-protection systems for both existing and new buildings across multiple project types, including commercial and residential.
• Experience working within New York City regulatory environments.
• Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD for mentoring junior engineers on drafting tasks, plus experience with industry-recognized calculations for mentoring junior staff.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
• Confident presentation skills and sound commercial awareness.
• Strong organization skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

Nice to have

• Experience working within Tri-State Area regulatory environments.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
