Engineering Intern (Design Process and AI)

Location: Hybrid assignment based in Greensboro, North Carolina, United States, with in-office attendance determined by project and collaboration needs; remote work permitted on some days. The posting also lists Raleigh, North Carolina, United States.

Hourly rates: $23 for sophomores, $24 for juniors, and $27 for seniors and master's students.

What you will do

• Analyze current engineering workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and quality in support of digital transformation.
• Develop and pilot AI agents supporting hardware development and global design process standardization.
• Gather user feedback, measure results, and recommend improvements to AI-agent solutions.
• Create and refine standard work, process documentation, and training materials.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Reliability, Program Management, and other global cross-functional stakeholders.
• Present project outcomes, lessons learned, and recommended next steps at the end of the internship.

Requirements

• Current student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering; mechanical, electrical, software, or industrial engineering is preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies, work independently, manage priorities, and translate user needs into practical solutions.
• Availability for a hybrid assignment based in Greensboro, North Carolina, with in-office attendance determined by project and collaboration needs and remote work permitted on some days.

Nice to have

• Experience with generative AI, prompt engineering, Python, APIs, Microsoft Copilot, or agent-development platforms.
• Familiarity with product development processes, requirements management, CAD/PLM tools, design reviews, verification, or engineering documentation.
