Senior Backend Engineer (Metadata Core)

Location: Warsaw, Poland; hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week in the assigned office, focused on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of new metadata platform components from the ground up.
• Design and operate scalable services with emphasis on reliability, observability, operability, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with partner teams and domain architects on system design and service integration.
• Use Kubernetes, Docker, BigTable, and Istio to build the next-generation metadata platform.
• Help define the platform vision and feature roadmaps.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen engineering practices through continuous improvement and blameless retrospectives.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Extensive experience deploying and operating microservices in a cloud environment, including Kubernetes.
• Good understanding of scalability and observability practices.
• Proficiency in Java.
• Experience designing and developing APIs.
• Proficiency with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Experience with message queues and/or streaming data systems such as Kafka or Pub/Sub.
• Ability to provide technical guidance on best practices, coding standards, and complex technical issues, plus experience mentoring and coaching engineers and providing technical feedback.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Python, Scala, or PHP.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Azure.
