Robotics Engineer (Robotics)

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; based at the hirify.global Campus approximately 10 miles south of Cambridge.

What you will do

• Develop, integrate, test, validate, and improve robotic systems underpinning the automation platform.
• Develop and execute test plans covering functionality, performance, reliability, and repeatability.
• Integrate robotic hardware, software, sensors, and automation components into complete systems.
• Investigate technical issues, identify root causes, and implement improvements with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Collect, process, and analyse test data, identifying performance trends and supporting engineering decisions.
• Contribute to the ROS-based software stack and produce technical reports and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Robotics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Understanding of robotics, automation, or electromechanical systems gained through industry experience, academic projects, or practical engineering work.
• Programming experience, ideally in Python, with the ability to write, understand, or modify scripts for testing, automation, or data analysis.
• Practical and structured approach to testing, troubleshooting, and solving engineering problems.
• Ability to analyse technical data, interpret results, and communicate findings through clear reports and documentation.
• Understanding of hardware and software interaction within integrated engineering systems.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Interest in developing reliable, robust engineering solutions and continuously improving system performance.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial robots, robotic arms, or mobile robots.
• Familiarity with robotics frameworks such as ROS.
• Experience with system integration, verification, validation, or commissioning.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, sensors, actuators, or control systems.
• Experience using Python libraries or other tools for data processing, analysis, and visualisation.
• Experience in a product development environment.
