Platform Engineer (AI Platform)

Location: Cologne, Germany; remote work possible, with up to 20 days per year working anywhere in the EU.

What you will do

• Build, configure, and maintain Microsoft Azure platform infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, including Terraform.
• Operate and improve Azure Databricks through configuration, automation, monitoring, access management, and troubleshooting.
• Operate and scale the Azure Kubernetes-based Data & AI platform using GitOps and CI/CD practices.
• Implement platform capabilities according to architecture patterns, security requirements, and engineering standards.
• Develop reusable automation and self-service capabilities for engineering, Data, and AI teams.
• Monitor platform health, resolve standard operational issues, collaborate with Platform, Data, AI, MLOps, and Security colleagues, and contribute to architecture discussions and documentation.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and understanding of compute, networking, storage, identity, and security.
• Practical experience with containers and Kubernetes, including deployment and operation of containerized workloads.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform.
• Experience creating or maintaining deployment pipelines and using Git-based development and delivery workflows.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, and troubleshooting production or platform environments, with the ability to resolve common operational issues independently.
• Experience with at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, Go, or Shell for infrastructure automation and platform tooling.
• Familiarity with Azure Databricks or similar Data & AI platforms, or strong motivation to develop hands-on expertise in this area.
• Basic understanding of Data, Machine Learning, or AI workloads and how infrastructure and platform capabilities support them.
• Ability to take ownership, organize tasks independently, communicate progress and challenges, ask for input on unfamiliar or complex topics, and explain technical subjects clearly.
• Fluency in English.
