Cloud Operations, Senior Specialist (AWS)

Location: Toronto, Canada; flexible hybrid work model.

Salary: $120,000–$140,000 hiring range, plus eligibility for a short-term incentive plan.

What you will do

• Operate and continuously improve multi-account AWS environments, shared cloud services, networking, workload environments, and production infrastructure.
• Design and maintain Terraform-based infrastructure automation, change-control workflows, GitOps practices, and production onboarding processes.
• Deliver security, reliability, and operational automation, including compliance remediation, least-privilege analysis, secret and encryption-key lifecycle management, self-healing, failover, patching, provisioning, and event-driven workflows.
• Define RTO/RPO and resiliency strategies for critical payment workloads, and lead chaos engineering, disaster recovery, and business continuity testing.
• Build observability across workloads and platform services, including monitoring, alerting, tracing, logging, dashboards, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Lead major incident response, root cause analysis, operational readiness reviews, AI-enabled operations, cost optimization, and rotating 24/7 production support.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in AWS Cloud Engineering, Cloud Operations, Site Reliability Engineering, Platform Engineering, or DevOps.
• Eligibility to work for hirify.global Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.
• Strong expertise designing and operating enterprise multi-account AWS environments, including AWS Organizations, Control Tower, Service Control Policies, centralized networking, and centralized logging.
• Strong experience with Terraform at scale, including reusable modules, state and workspace strategy, pipeline-mediated execution, GitOps, and DevSecOps.
• Strong knowledge of AWS compute and containers, networking, data and messaging, security and governance, and operations services, including EC2, ECS/Fargate, EKS, Lambda, VPC, Transit Gateway, Route 53, CloudFront, ALB/NLB, PrivateLink, RDS, DynamoDB, MSK, SNS/SQS, EventBridge, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, Config, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Dynatrace, Systems Manager, Step Functions, and ServiceNow.
• Experience developing automation with Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages, and implementing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent technologies.
• Strong understanding of cloud security operations and automated compliance enforcement, including policy-as-code.
• Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical production services in regulated environments and evidencing controls for audits or regulators.
• Ability to drive technical standards across teams not directly managed, make and defend documented risk decisions, troubleshoot complex issues, and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
• Self-starter and collaborative team player committed to continuous learning and development.

Nice to have

• AWS Solutions Architect Professional certification.
• AWS Security Specialty certification.
• Experience with AIOps, generative AI platforms, and AI-enabled operational tooling.
• HashiCorp Terraform Associate or Professional certification.
• Experience in financial services, payment processing, or other highly regulated industries, including familiarity with PCI DSS, SOC 2, or OSFI B-13 expectations.
• Experience supporting cloud migrations, modernization initiatives, and large-scale transformation programs.
