Principal Analytics Consultant (Healthcare)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; Flex hybrid schedule with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. Other listed location: Richardson, Texas.

Base pay: $102,000–$184,300 annually; annual incentive bonus plan may apply.

What you will do

• Provide analytics support and consulting for major commercial healthcare clients and internal senior-leader stakeholders.
• Lead external client engagements and internal analytics projects from business-problem definition through execution.
• Analyze medical claims and related datasets to explain plan costs, population-health outcomes, and health drivers.
• Communicate findings and present recommendations to C-Suite stakeholders and internal partners.
• Design and maintain standard data layers, coding standards, and documentation for organizational analytics use cases.
• Troubleshoot challenges in analytic development and help scale impactful client engagements internally.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus 8 years of experience, Master’s degree plus 6 years, PhD plus 4 years, or 12 years of experience in healthcare services, statistical analysis, insurance industry economics, or a related field.
• Highly proficient in querying a wide variety of internal and external data sources to generate meaningful insights.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in computer languages such as SQL, Python, and R.
• Ability to create dynamic, visually engaging dashboards using data-visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Strong business intelligence and ability to take a business case from inception through customer or partner execution.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including communication with senior leadership.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with a team, and lead multiple analytics projects in parallel.
• Analytics subject-matter expertise and a record of championing initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality outputs for senior-leadership decision-making within short timelines.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree and 8 years of experience in healthcare services, statistical analysis, or insurance industry economics, including 6 years analyzing medical claims data.
• Experience with case-control studies, regression analysis, principal component analysis, clustering, propensity scoring, classification, ROI calculations, and similar techniques.
• Experience with Databricks.
• Experience with version-control or collaborative tools.
