Software Engineer II, Fullstack (Repayment UX) (Fintech)

Location: Remote Spain; candidates must be based in Spain. The role is remote-first, with occasional in-person work potentially required and an in-person onboarding experience for new hires.

Base pay per year: €73,000–€109,000.

What you will do

• Break larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and collaborate with teammates to ensure timely delivery.
• Partner with product management, design, and analytics on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
• Operate and support team-owned systems by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and participating in keep-the-lights-on and on-call efforts.
• Participate in team growth and development activities, including interviewing.
• Build and operate repayment user journeys for reliable and transparent consumer finance experiences.

Requirements

• At least 1.5 years of total software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems, with proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
• Experience shipping web applications using declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Ability to turn business scenarios into solutions spanning multiple software components and write clear, well-tested, extensible code.
• Proactive ownership of professional growth and feedback-seeking from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Willingness to participate in the required on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience developing and architecting mobile applications, preferably with declarative UI frameworks such as React Native.
