Senior Software Development Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; hybrid work with onsite attendance Tuesday through Thursday each week, with additional onsite attendance possible based on business needs.

Starting base salary: $180,000–$225,000 per year. Equity and other total compensation components are also offered.

What you will do

• Build systems for high-value senders transferring money for real estate, education, long-term investments, and other major financial milestones.
• Lead technical design and architecture for complex systems, translating ambiguous greenfield problems into technical strategies and measurable outcomes.
• Develop and operate reliable, observable, and scalable web, mobile, and backend systems that meet strict availability and latency SLOs.
• Use customer signals, product judgment, and data to guide technical decisions and improve customer-facing experiences.
• Partner with product, design, analytics, and engineering teams across identity and trust, money movement, pricing, and related areas.
• Mentor teammates, lead technical discussions, review code, and advocate for coding, testing, and system design best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience, including building and operating systems end-to-end.
• Experience building customer-facing experiences at product scale with TypeScript, React, and native mobile development for iOS or Android, including React Native.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python, with a record of delivering production-quality code.
• Experience using AI tools in the software development workflow, including authoring agents, drafting and iterating on technical specifications, and prototyping or validating concepts with Claude Code.
• Experience designing and building distributed, large-scale systems and understanding service-oriented or microservices architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including familiarity with managed services.

Nice to have

• Experience in FinTech, payments, or other regulated industries where reliability, security, and compliance influence engineering decisions.
