Staff Software Engineer (Healthcare Visits)

Location: Hybrid, San Francisco-HQ, US

Annual salary: $192K–$264K, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead multi-quarter, cross-team projects from ambiguity through launch in partnership with product, design, clinical, and operations leaders.
• Own the architecture of the scheduling platform, including real-time booking with outside provider networks and support for higher visit volumes.
• Design encounter records that connect member apps, care team tools, scheduling, programs, billing, and AI experiences.
• Build a configurable visit platform for new specialties and define contracts with adjacent teams and workflows.
• Own service reliability, lead migrations from third-party systems, and protect the security and privacy of member health data.
• Write critical design documents, lead design reviews, establish engineering patterns, use AI throughout software development, coach senior engineers, and support hiring.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of non-internship, full-time professional software engineering experience.
• Professional experience with at least one of TypeScript, Go, React Native, or React.
• Experience leading a project spanning multiple engineers or teams from technical design through launch, in close partnership with product and design.
• Professional experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code in day-to-day engineering work.

Nice to have

• Experience setting technical direction across multiple teams in a 0-to-1 or rapid-growth environment.
• Experience shipping production features powered by LLMs or agentic workflows.
• Experience building scheduling, booking, or marketplace systems at scale.
• Experience with clinical data and healthcare integrations, including FHIR, HL7, EHRs, claims, labs, or pharmacies.
• Deep familiarity with React Native, React, TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, GraphQL, Go, gRPC, Postgres, Temporal, Kafka, Docker, and AWS.
• Experience in healthcare, insurance technology, or other high-compliance industries such as HIPAA or SOC 2 environments.
