Director, Global Portfolio Strategy & Planning – Retail Development

Location: London, UK. Hybrid working requires 3 days in the office and 2 days from home. Relocation and visa assistance are offered. The role may be converted into a 12-month secondment opportunity for interested internal candidates.

What you will do

• Shape the Global Retail Development strategic agenda and translate priorities into an integrated multi-year roadmap.
• Define portfolio and programme prioritisation principles that balance value, strategic alignment, feasibility and delivery capacity.
• Lead commercial and retail finance analysis covering store development economics, CapEx/OpEx, costs, business cases and investment returns.
• Create a holistic view of the global investment portfolio, including budgets, forecasts, benefits, value delivery, risks and opportunities, and lead annual resource planning.
• Prepare executive narratives, recommendations and decision materials, and own the Quarterly Retail Development Review with Marketing & Communications leaders.
• Align Retail Development, Finance, Real Estate, Operations and commercial stakeholders while providing governance and delivery oversight.

Requirements

• Significant experience in retail, real estate, store development or a closely related environment, connecting growth strategy, physical retail development and commercial performance.
• Deep understanding of store development economics and investment decision-making, including CapEx/OpEx, development costs, budgets, forecasts, business cases and return on investment.
• Proven ability to assess competing priorities, evaluate investment trade-offs and create a portfolio view that supports resource, sequencing and value decisions.
• Exceptional ability to synthesise complex information into concise recommendations and executive-level materials.
• Demonstrated credibility with VPs, senior directors and cross-functional leadership teams, with the ability to challenge constructively, build alignment and influence without formal authority.
• Ability to operate across geographies, functions and time zones in a fast-moving environment while balancing strategic thinking with attention to delivery detail, risks and implications.
