Senior Director, Market Data (Fintech)

Location: The Shard, London, and US; hybrid format with 4 days in the office and 1 day remotely.

What you will do

• Define and execute the global commercial strategy for market data and own relationships with exchanges and data providers.
• Lead negotiations covering pricing, tiers, enterprise agreements, usage models, minimum commitments, waivers, renewals, and commercial terms.
• Own the commercial and licensing framework for sourcing, using, and distributing market data, including audits, disputes, and contractual changes.
• Build portfolio economics, evaluate new data sources and proposals, develop business cases, and establish commercial performance metrics.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Finance on licensing, budgeting, forecasting, product usage, and major commercial decisions.
• Lead and develop specialist teams and provide recommendations to senior leadership.

Requirements

• Significant experience in market data, ideally from an exchange, market data provider, broker, trading platform, investment firm, or another financial markets business.
• Direct experience personally leading complex commercial negotiations with exchanges and market data providers.
• Deep understanding of market data licensing, exchange policies, pricing structures, and commercial models.
• Strong knowledge of display and non-display usage, professional and non-professional users, redistribution, derived data, enterprise licensing, and audit or true-up mechanisms.
• Strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify opportunities from contracts, pricing, usage, and business requirements.
• Ability to build and defend commercial positions in negotiations with sophisticated counterparties.
• Experience managing senior relationships with exchanges and major market data providers.
• Experience leading and developing specialist teams while working with deep domain experts.
• Ability to work across commercial, product, technical, and legal topics without being the deepest technical expert in every area.
• Excellent written and spoken English.

• Experience managing a global market data portfolio across multiple exchanges, asset classes, and regions.
• Experience with market data management or inventory platforms such as MDSL, Calero, TRG Screen, or similar.
• Experience with a business that distributes market data to a large user base.
• Experience using analytics, automation, or AI tools to improve commercial analysis and vendor management.
