Associate Engineer, Acoustic Systems Engineering (Automotive Audio)

Location: Hybrid work in Nagoya or Tokyo, Japan; willingness to work in a Japan office and travel internationally and domestically 50% or more is required.

What you will do

• Lead acoustic systems activities for RFI and RFQ pursuits involving major automotive OEMs, primarily Toyota and Lexus.
• Define and develop automotive audio systems, taking responsibility for sound quality, customer satisfaction, and market performance.
• Execute critical audio-system sound tuning and oversee tuning signatures delivered by customer teams.
• Provide technical leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to OEM acoustic engineering teams and internal stakeholders.
• Plan project staffing, support technology roadmaps and product innovation, and develop worldwide acoustic tools and best practices.
• Represent hirify.global at international acoustics conferences through papers and active participation.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in the audio industry, automotive, or product development.
• Advanced knowledge of transducer design, DSP, audio amplifiers, and psychoacoustics.
• Proven research and development record demonstrated through publications in relevant top-tier journals or conferences, patents or patent applications, or innovative products.
• Expertise in defining and parametrizing complex automotive products using best practices and managing internal and external requirements.
• Excellent presentation skills and the ability to explain complex technical topics to audiences with different expertise levels.
• Willingness to travel 50% or more internationally and domestically.
• Driver’s license and successful completion of a background investigation and aptitude test are required conditions of employment.
