Senior Software Engineer (Java)

Location: Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines; hybrid with onsite work 3 days per week in Cubao, QC.

What you will do

• Design, develop, troubleshoot, test, deploy, maintain, refactor, and modernize complex Java/J2EE enterprise applications, including mission-critical legacy systems.
• Lead technical design decisions, architecture contributions, coding standards, code reviews, testing strategies, technical risk assessments, and proof-of-concept initiatives.
• Own complex technical tasks from design through deployment and support Agile delivery, release management, production validation, and technical estimation.
• Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues while improving application performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and security.
• Mentor junior and middle-level engineers, support onboarding and knowledge transfer, and contribute to technical hiring, interviews, and assessments.
• Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional global teams to translate business requirements into scalable solutions and communicate technical risks and recommendations.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8+ and enterprise application development using J2EE, including Servlets, JSP, and related enterprise technologies.
• Experience with MySQL complex queries, database optimization, stored procedures, and large databases.
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MVC, AWS services including S3, RDS, and ECS, and REST and SOAP web services.
• Experience with Git, Maven, CI/CD practices, ETL, and SFTP.
• Strong hands-on experience in enterprise development, application modernization, production support, database optimization, AWS, and CI/CD.
• Excellent English communication and documentation skills, strong problem-solving, debugging, and root cause analysis abilities.
• Strong ownership, accountability, collaboration, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.
• Ability to adapt to new projects, technologies, and changing business needs while delivering secure, scalable, maintainable, and well-tested solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience or strong interest in Agentic AI for development workflows and automation.
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration.
• Familiarity with Windows Server and PowerShell.
• Experience with Caucho Resin or Apache Axis.
• Background in the automotive industry or Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
