Principal Fullstack Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote or hybrid in London or Bristol, United Kingdom.

What you will do

• Lead the architectural vision and engineering standards across the modern full-stack web stack.
• Architect and build performant, accessible, responsive distributed web applications using micro frontends, Vite Module Federation, and Nx monorepos.
• Design and develop API and BFF layers with Node.js and Express, including automated type generation and integration with legacy or on-premise systems.
• Own end-to-end type safety, runtime schema validation, contract-driven development, and full-lifecycle testing.
• Drive developer experience, progressive rollouts, experimentation, observability, telemetry, and runtime configuration.
• Work with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, including Terraform, AWS services, and GitLab CI/CD deployment pipelines.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in React 19, Node.js, and TypeScript.
• Proven experience architecting distributed web applications with Micro Frontends, Vite Module Federation, scalable Nx monorepos, and pnpm.
• Strong mastery of Tailwind CSS, React Router, Zustand, and TanStack Query.
• Extensive experience building API/BFF layers with Node.js and Express 5, automated type generation using Hey API/OpenAPI, zod-to-openapi, and Swagger UI.
• Expertise in end-to-end type safety, runtime schema validation, and contract-driven development with Zod across frontend and backend services.
• Experience leading unit, integration, and end-to-end testing with Vitest, Playwright, and Mock Service Worker.
• Experience maintaining developer experience and code quality with Oxlint, ESLint, Prettier, and Husky.
• Practical experience with progressive rollouts, targeted experimentation, and runtime configuration using LaunchDarkly.
• Experience with full-stack observability using Grafana Faro, Pino, AWS CloudWatch, and Grafana, plus Terraform, AWS ECS Fargate, ALB, API Gateway, and GitLab CI/CD.
• High-quality, pragmatic, adaptable, collaborative, and outcome-focused working style with clear communication and a willingness to share knowledge.
