Senior Software Engineer (Java/AWS)

Location: Manchester (Spinningfields), United Kingdom; hybrid work with 2 days per week in the office.

What you will do

• Build and evolve products and platforms that help millions of people make better financial decisions.
• Own technical solutions and shape architecture and engineering approaches within the team.
• Work with engineers, product managers, designers and data specialists to solve customer problems.
• Deliver software across discovery, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Build scalable, resilient and secure systems using TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, AWS and Vue.js.
• Champion automated testing, pair programming, mobbing, continuous delivery, operational excellence, knowledge sharing, mentoring and AI-assisted engineering.

Requirements

• Strong commercial experience building and operating modern software applications at scale.
• Experience with Java, ideally alongside TypeScript and JavaScript, and cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Solid understanding of software architecture, engineering principles and design patterns.
• Experience building secure, resilient and well-tested systems.
• Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
• Passion for agile, iterative delivery and creating value early and often.
• Confidence using AI-powered engineering tools to improve productivity, quality and learning.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
• Customer focus, accountability, collaborative working, curiosity, continuous development and a willingness to share knowledge and help others succeed.
