Graduates | Defence Experimentation & Analysis

What you will do

• Support Defence experimentation, analytical studies, military exercises, wargames, workshops, and capability development activities.
• Collect, prepare, curate, and analyse qualitative and quantitative data, including surveys and evidence from experiments.
• Analyse observations, results, trends, and evidence, and help convert findings into clear reports, briefs, presentations, and client deliverables.
• Develop and maintain datasets, analytical artefacts, experimentation records, evidence bases, project management information, and analytical tools.
• Support stakeholder engagement, workshops, brainstorming sessions, project planning, kick-offs, delivery activities, bids, proposals, and business development.
• Work collaboratively with Defence personnel, industry specialists, consultants, multidisciplinary teams, internal stakeholders, and senior leaders.

Requirements

• Graduate or early-career candidate with an interest in Defence, national security, experimentation, wargaming, research, data, or analytical problem solving.
• Curious, analytical, systematic, and logical approach to solving problems, with the capacity to work through ambiguity and understand complex issues.
• Interest in working with qualitative and/or quantitative information and capacity to support data collection, research, surveys, workshops, exercises, or analytical activities.
• Ability to interpret information and contribute to analysis, reports, presentations, and other client deliverables.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records and information.
• Confidence working collaboratively as part of an integrated team and willingness to learn from Defence, industry, and consulting professionals.
• Have, or be able to obtain and maintain, an Australian Government NV1 security clearance.
• Relevant academic backgrounds may include data science, data analytics, statistics, STEM, Defence or strategic studies, international relations, security studies, intelligence, national security, psychology, behavioural science, operations research, business, commerce, economics, information technology, project management, social sciences, research, or other analytical disciplines.

Nice to have

• Exposure through university projects, research, Defence service, Australian Defence Force Reserves, cadets, internships, volunteering, simulations, gaming or wargaming, data projects, or other relevant activities.
• Previous Defence experience is advantageous but not essential.
