Asset Performance Management Specialist (Electrical Substation Construction)

Location: Hybrid, based in Antioch, California, with work from a remote office and the assigned location according to business needs; approximately 50% travel with occasional overnight stays.

Salary: $105,000–$169,000 per year, plus eligibility for discretionary incentive compensation programs.

What you will do

• Identify contract-worthy substation construction and improvement projects, assess feasibility and constructability, and prepare job packages, estimates, scopes, and supporting drawings.
• Lead job walks, scope discussions, design reviews, project kickoffs, construction meetings, and progress meetings with engineers, project managers, contractors, and construction supervisors.
• Review RFPs, contractor financial information, IFC drawings, schedules, target dates, billing, change orders, and project closeout records.
• Coordinate contractor activities, material deliveries, permitting, governing agencies, municipalities, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Oversee field construction, inspections, safety plans, environmental and land permit conditions, quality requirements, and project documentation.
• Use workload management systems, support workload analysis, mentor associate and career-level employees when assigned, and serve as Incident Commander or Lead Representative in the field as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in Industrial Engineering or Construction.
• Ability to travel approximately 50%, including occasional overnight stays.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 7 years of experience in Industrial Engineering or Electrical Substation Construction.
• Working knowledge of Asset Performance Management software for substation asset installation, or similar software.
• Experience with cost accounting, contract administration, project scheduling, project inspection, and quality control.
• Knowledge of electrical substation construction, including 12KV–500KV substations or similarly complex facilities.
• Knowledge of substation support, asset data management, new equipment installation, electrical substation test-result entry, and asset information management in APM systems.
• Specialized knowledge of electrical substations and construction contracting processes.
• Strong project and people management skills, cooperation-building skills, and the ability to communicate construction procedures, instrumentation, work methods, standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Knowledge of California and federal regulatory requirements, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requirements.
