ADA Specialist

Location: Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA; remote employees are eligible to apply. Occasional travel may be required.

Salary: $45,600–$86,200 base salary per year. Minimum starting base pay is $53,651.

What you will do

• Serve as the single point of contact for employer managers and HR representatives regarding ADA, integrated leave management, FMLA, and STD/LTD claims management.
• Provide consultation and education on employee readiness to stay at work or return to work and on ADA considerations.
• Coordinate interactions among employers, employees, attending physicians, and other representatives, including forms, role education, and agreement on assistance plans.
• Review medical and job-duty information, recommend eligibility for worksite assistance, and identify potential worksite modifications for employees with medical conditions or functional limitations.
• Partner with legal, clinical, vocational, disability, and leave resources, and coordinate independent medical evaluations when appropriate.
• Track modifications, document interactions and customer decisions, and follow up to evaluate modification effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant business experience.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency in disability management, leave management, workers’ compensation administration, clinical or vocational rehabilitation, disability case management, or human resources.
• Knowledge of legal issues related to disability and absence management, particularly FMLA, ADA, and state leave laws.
• Strong persuasion, negotiation, collaboration, teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, analytical, and independent-work skills.
• Ability to analyze impacts and implications, identify alternatives, achieve resolution, and produce credible reports and documents.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations and exercise sensitivity, encouragement, and discretion with employees discussing return-to-work or stay-at-work matters.
• Ability to work cooperatively with employers, vendors, and clinical specialists to conceptualize, create, implement, and evaluate return-to-work plans.
• Proficient use of system applications, including tracking, documentation, and diary systems.
• Ability to remain current on state insurance privacy laws and HIPAA and identify issues when communicating medical information.
