Bioinformatics Application Scientist, NGS - AMER

Location: Remote in the USA; California-based role with local and regional travel of approximately 10%.

Salary: $125,000–$141,000 USD annually for the San Francisco Bay Area; eligible for bonus, equity, and benefits. Compensation may vary by location, skills, experience, and expertise.

What you will do

• Provide technical expertise in pre- and post-sales discussions about NGS capabilities and products.
• Design and support custom NGS panels using an existing design workflow to meet customer goals.
• Provide bioinformatics support for NGS data analysis, troubleshooting, proof-of-concept experiments, and pipeline questions.
• Support sales presentations, customer meetings, experiments, and high-level technical guidance.
• Coordinate customer requirements and feedback across Sales, Product Management, Product Marketing, R&D, and Production.
• Maintain compliance with QMS/ISMS standards, regulatory requirements, and ISO 13485.

Requirements

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or a related field plus 2+ years of biotech or commercial genomics experience, or BS/MS in one of these fields plus 7+ years of biotech or commercial genomics experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of NGS applications and bioinformatics for Whole Exome Sequencing, RNA-seq, and methylation data analysis.
• Experience with bioinformatics tools including BWA, GATK, IGV, UCSC, SAMtools, Picard, and bedtools.
• Experience working in a Linux environment and with command-line applications.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, strong self-motivation, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Background in Medical Genetics, Oncology, or Immunology.
• Deep understanding of molecular and medical genetics.
• 4+ years of experience in a customer-facing role.
• Wet-lab experience with molecular biology and NGS library preparation.
