Sr. Manager, Bioinformatics

Location: Remote role based in the United States; listed location is US - California - San Diego.

Base salary: $170,600–$255,800 per year in the United States. Employees may also be eligible for variable cash compensation and equity.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of bioinformatics scientists while fostering collaboration, innovation, and technical excellence.
• Manage bioinformatics activities across clinical genomics product development, commercialization, and lifecycle management, including prioritization, resource allocation, and risk management.
• Oversee the development, validation, and deployment of analytical methods and bioinformatics workflows for customer-facing software, assays, and regulated products.
• Collaborate with R&D, Software Engineering, Biostatistics, Regulatory, Quality, Product Management, and Commercial teams.
• Support customers, commercial teams, and external collaborators with bioinformatics expertise, technical troubleshooting, product adoption, and feedback collection.
• Evaluate and adopt new analytical approaches, technologies, and scalable bioinformatics solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 12 years of related experience, with 3–6 years of management experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing bioinformatics teams and complex cross-functional programs.
• Experience supporting regulated products, including IVD, CDx, FDA, IVDR, or similar regulatory frameworks.
• Strong understanding of next-generation sequencing, genomics data analysis, and bioinformatics pipeline development.
• Experience supporting customers, commercial teams, or external collaborators in deploying and adopting genomics products and bioinformatics solutions.
• Proficiency with bioinformatics software development and analysis tools, including Python, R, and Linux-based environments.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills.

Nice to have

• PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, Genomics, or a related scientific discipline, with 8+ years of relevant experience.
