What you will do

  • Own the architecture for hirify.global Hardened Images as a platform, covering image and Helm chart authoring, security, distribution, and evolution.
  • Define multi-quarter technical roadmaps for container hardening while balancing upstream velocity, supply chain security, compliance, and catalogue scalability.
  • Identify systemic patterns from customer, operational, and upstream signals and translate them into cross-catalogue architectural changes.
  • Align engineering, product, security, infrastructure, executives, and customer-facing functions on strategy, tradeoffs, and sequencing.
  • Represent hirify.global in enterprise escalations, customer engagements, and upstream open-source communities.
  • Set standards for image definition, Helm chart adaptation, hardening, supply chain tooling, integration testing, developer tooling, reliability, and on-call operations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including extensive work on production-grade distributed systems at scale.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to set multi-quarter technical roadmaps and align engineering, product, and executive stakeholders on strategy and tradeoffs.
  • Deep expertise in the container and Kubernetes ecosystem, including cert-manager, Kyverno, Grafana, Istio, and similar projects.
  • Mastery of container supply chain security concepts, including provenance, attestation, SBOM, signing, and SLSA, with experience driving organization-wide posture decisions.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals in code review, testing, source control, CI/CD, and Go sufficient to shape infrastructure and test harness design.
  • Track record of technical influence without authority across multiple teams or organizations through design documents, standards, review, and mentorship.
  • Experience navigating upstream open-source communities as a decision-maker and shaping upstream direction on security-relevant issues.
  • Comfort working across remote distributed teams and communicating complex technical strategy to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

  • Experience as a package maintainer at a Linux distribution, Homebrew, or comparable ecosystem.
  • Hands-on experience implementing or operationalizing Sigstore, SBOM, or SLSA at organizational scale.
  • Experience in regulated environments such as FedRAMP, FIPS, or PCI.
  • Prior Principal or Distinguished individual contributor experience on a platform, security, or developer-tools team.
  • Experience engaging directly with enterprise customers on container security architecture.

Culture & Benefits

  • Remote-first work from home, with offices in Seattle and Paris for connection and collaboration.
  • Flexible scheduling, generous PTO, quarterly Whaleness Days, and an end-of-year Whaleness break.
  • Home office support and a US$100 net monthly technology stipend.
  • Annual learning and development stipend for conferences, courses, certifications, and continued learning.
  • Sixteen weeks of paid parental leave after six months of employment, equity for full-time employees, and country-specific medical, retirement, and holiday benefits.
