Senior Developer – Procurement Technology (Techno-Functional)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States

Base pay range: $112,480.00–$146,540.00 annually; eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.

What you will do

• Build, configure, enhance, test, deploy, and support Coupa and smart intake/orchestration procurement applications across requisitioning, approvals, purchasing, supplier processes, invoicing, and related workflows.
• Partner with Procurement and Finance to analyze processes, identify gaps and controls, document requirements, and translate business needs into functional designs, user stories, technical specifications, and working solutions.
• Design, develop, and support integrations with Oracle E-Business Suite, future ERP solutions, supplier systems, identity services, and data platforms using APIs, middleware, events, and file-based interfaces.
• Develop production-quality scripts, services, reusable components, data mappings, workflow extensions, and automation while favoring maintainable, upgrade-safe platform configurations.
• Identify, prototype, build, test, integrate, deploy, and support AI-enabled procurement workflows, including intelligent intake, request routing, supplier validation, document extraction, exception triage, and employee self-service.
• Own technical delivery through evaluation, estimation, development, testing, UAT, release readiness, deployment, monitoring, incident resolution, root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, CI/CD, documentation, and operational support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Typically 5+ years of relevant experience in enterprise application development, SaaS platform configuration, systems integration, or application support, including hands-on technical delivery.
• Experience in a techno-functional role combining development or integration work with business process analysis, requirements definition, and stakeholder engagement.
• Hands-on experience with Coupa or another enterprise procurement/Source-to-Pay platform, including configuration of workflows, approvals, roles, data, and interfaces and diagnosis of functional production issues.
• Practical understanding of intake, supplier onboarding, requisition-to-purchase-order, approvals, invoice processing, and procurement controls.
• Strong experience developing and troubleshooting REST APIs, JSON/XML payloads, authentication mechanisms, data mapping and transformation, and synchronous or asynchronous integrations.
• Ability to write and maintain production-quality code or automation scripts using Python, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or equivalent platform-supported technology; working SQL skills.
• Experience with Git, testing, release management, logging/monitoring, production incident support, and independent work across business and technology teams.

Nice to have

• Direct Coupa configuration and integration experience in Procure-to-Pay, supplier management, sourcing, or invoicing, plus experience with a smart intake/orchestration product.
• Experience integrating SaaS procurement products with Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, Workday, or similar enterprise platforms; exposure to middleware or iPaaS solutions.
• Hands-on experience delivering AI or automation, including workflow development, API/tool integrations, low-code automation, LLM-enabled applications, or agent orchestration.
• Familiarity with AI governance, prompt evaluation, guardrails, access permissions, human-in-the-loop approvals, data protection, audit trails, and exception handling.
• Experience with AWS or comparable cloud services, event-driven architectures, CI/CD, and enterprise data platforms.
• Knowledge of SOX-related controls, segregation of duties, auditability, change management, and enterprise security requirements.
