Senior Internal Audit Consultant, Data & AI-Enabled Assurance (EMEA & APO)

Location: Hybrid, based out of the Hoofddorp office in the Netherlands, with a minimum of eight days per month on-site; occasional travel to regional offices, laboratories, warehouses, and manufacturing locations, usually less than 15%.

What you will do

• Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of financial and operational controls under the IIA Global Internal Audit Standards using risk-based, data-driven methods.
• Design, build, and maintain SQL, Python, BI, and automation pipelines for continuous auditing, continuous monitoring, anomaly detection, and full-population testing.
• Use generative and agentic AI for risk assessment, document analysis, test design, workpaper preparation, and report drafting, while validating accuracy, bias, confidentiality, and human oversight.
• Assess controls over traditional, AI-enabled, and automated processes, including model governance, data quality and lineage, access, and third-party AI risk.
• Advise process owners on redesign, ERP and automation initiatives, control frameworks, and efficient automated control monitoring.
• Prepare audit reports and dashboards, present findings to management, conduct special projects and investigations, and improve Internal Audit methodology, tooling, and reusable analytics assets.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in public accounting, corporate Internal Audit, or a comparable finance, data, or transformation role, including financial and operational audits and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
• End-to-end analytics experience using SQL and Python or equivalent tools, plus a BI tool such as Power BI, moving from raw and unstructured data to defensible conclusions; proficiency in Excel is required.
• Practical experience using generative AI tools and understanding of their limitations, risks, and governance requirements.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and solid knowledge of standard business processes including Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, and Record to Report.
• Critical thinking, professional skepticism, pragmatic judgment, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning.
• Clear communication, collaboration, presentation skills, and ability to work with stakeholders at all levels; English is essential.
• Strong time management, ability to balance multiple projects and shifting deadlines, accuracy, independence, high ethical standards, and a positive attitude.

Nice to have

• Experience building or deploying AI agents, automation, or low-code solutions that replaced manual processes.
• Experience with cloud data platforms, process mining, or continuous controls monitoring tools.
• Professional certifications such as CIA, CPA, CISA, AIGP, or Power BI, Azure, or AWS data certifications.
• Additional language skills in German, French, Italian, Mandarin, or Japanese.
