Educational Consultant (ELA or Reading) – Per Diem – Milwaukee, WI

Location: Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; candidates must live in, near, or be open to relocating to the Milwaukee area. Supports districts throughout the Midwest, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. Considerable travel beyond Milwaukee is required, with up to 80% travel, including overnight stays and transportation by car, plane, and/or public transportation. A valid driver's license and own transportation are required.

Compensation: $30/hour–$65.63/hour, depending on the assigned work, including at-home and away-from-home work. Compensation is provided for professional learning delivery, internal training, travel time, and travel expenses. Mileage reimbursement may be available for applicable travel.

What you will do

• Become an expert in the online diagnostic and instruction program and Common Core products, focusing on ELA or Reading.
• Coordinate and deliver on-site product training and professional learning courses for teachers and school administrators.
• Facilitate professional development on effectively implementing Ready and i-Ready to improve classroom learning.
• Provide tailored support including lesson planning, pacing guidance, data analysis, and implementation support for teachers, coaches, and leaders.
• Participate in observation, feedback, coaching, and internal professional improvement activities.
• Track and submit detailed training notes, complete assignments on time, and maintain a professional image with customers and prospects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 2+ years of experience teaching ELA or Reading, coaching ELA or Reading teachers, and providing ELA or Reading professional development.
• Strong working knowledge of Common Core State Standards for ELA or Reading for Grades K–8, or comparable state standards, including content and practice standards.
• Fluency with digital tools, including online assessments, and comfort discussing and applying data with teachers and leaders.
• Understanding of adult learning principles and their application to professional development.
• Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Exceptional time management, organizational skills, prioritization ability, and attention to detail.
• Strong computer and internet skills, including Office programs such as Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an educational cohort.
• Valid driver’s license and own transportation, with ability to travel up to 80%.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in ELA or Reading.
• Knowledge of online meeting programs such as Zoom or WebEx.
• Bilingual and biliterate English/Spanish capability.
