Staff Engineer II, TSG Data Engineering

Location: Hybrid, with in-office presence at least 1 day per week in Boston, Chicago, or Atlanta, United States

Annual salary: $135,000–$162,000 in Atlanta; $148,000–$178,000 in Chicago; $155,000–$186,000 in Boston.

Bain & Company’s internal Software Applications group develops custom enterprise applications supporting teams across the firm and a global user base.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and support scalable enterprise web and mobile applications as a senior individual contributor.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions, evaluate implementation options, and recommend scope, architecture, and level of effort.
• Lead application architecture, design, prototyping, third-party component evaluation, and significant system upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership to external vendor teams and project teams, while communicating risks, progress, and design decisions to stakeholders.
• Provide production support, troubleshooting, reporting, database administration, and application infrastructure improvements.
• Mentor engineers, document technical solutions, share knowledge, and improve Agile engineering standards and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and experience developing enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong software development performance record, analytical and problem-solving skills, communication, time management, customer service, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, including sprints, scrums, user stories, and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Experience architecting initiatives according to established architecture and security practices and providing technical leadership to developers and senior engineers.
• Experience resolving conflicts, dependencies, and delivery challenges across technical areas.
• Relevant software engineering experience with .NET, .NET Core, C#, T-SQL, Angular, React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Azure Services, testing tools such as XUnit or Jasmine, GitHub Actions, search platforms, NoSQL databases, and caching technologies.
• Relevant data engineering experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, Blob Storage, Azure Synapse, Analysis Services, Talend, Azure Data Factory, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, Azure-based data warehousing, Tableau, or Power BI.

Nice to have

• Experience with C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, relational databases, REST or SOAP APIs, web services, enterprise infrastructure, networking, and access management.
• Experience with RPA, low-code, and workflow automation platforms such as Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism, Power Automate, UiPath, Power Apps, Appian, OutSystems, or Nintex.
• Experience with secure coding, secrets management using HashiCorp Vault or Azure Key Vault, and authentication mechanisms including OAuth 2.0, JWT, or Azure Managed Identities.
• Experience or certifications in Power Apps, Power Automate, or Automation Anywhere 360, plus experience with Tableau, Power BI, GitHub Actions, HTML, CSS, React, Bootstrap, or Angular.
