What you will do

• Design logical and physical data models for supply chain products and the VALIP lakehouse using Delta Lake and Unity Catalog.
• Design databases supporting migrations to VA sites and cloud environments.
• Establish data governance, quality, lineage, and access standards aligned with VA data policy.
• Tune performance across SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, and Databricks.
• At the Senior level, administer databases, including backups, patching, and environment refreshes.

Requirements

• Senior / Lead candidates: 10+ years of experience, including 7+ years in data architecture or engineering.
• Mid-level / Level II / Journeyman candidates: 5+ years in database administration or data engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks and Spark.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, including SQL Server, Oracle, and Postgres.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
• Ability to obtain a Tier 2 / Moderate Risk Public Trust and a VA PIV credential.

Nice to have

• Experience with Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and lakehouse design.
• Experience with IBM Maximo data and deployments.
• Knowledge of VA data governance and federal health data.
• Maximo Deployment Professional certification or SAFe Architect certification.
• Databricks Certified Data Engineer or Databricks Certified Generative AI Engineer certification.
