TL;DR
NPI Buyer/Planner (Robotics) (Supply Chain/Manufacturing): Converting prototype and pilot build plans, immature BOMs, and engineering changes into purchase orders, material commitments, and clear-to-build kits with an accent on NPI material planning, tactical purchasing, and configuration management. Focus on identifying shortages and long-lead risks, coordinating suppliers and engineering teams, and transitioning accurate material history and planning parameters into production.

Location: San Jose, CA, United States

US base salary: $120,000–$180,000 per year. Total compensation may include additional components and benefits depending on the role.

Company

hirify.global is an AI robotics company developing autonomous general-purpose humanoid robots for home and commercial markets.

What you will do

  • Convert engineering build plans and prototype schedules into time-phased material requirements for EVT, DVT, PVT, and pilot builds.
  • Run BOM scrubs, identify long-lead and single-source parts, maintain shortage lists, and publish clear-to-build status and recovery dates.
  • Own the RFQ-to-PO cycle, including quotes, purchase orders, supplier acknowledgments, ETA tracking, expediting, and de-expediting.
  • Manage non-standard parts, spot buys, broker sourcing, pricing, MOQs, NRE, tooling charges, and supplier commitment risks.
  • Manage material disposition for ECOs and deviations, maintain item masters and planning data, and support consigned-material and NPI inventory accuracy.
  • Hand off supplier commitments, lead times, planning parameters, part history, forecasts, and demand signals to production planning and Global Supply Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or applicable industry experience.
  • 3–5 years of experience in buying, planning, or materials management, including at least 2 years supporting NPI or prototype builds.
  • Experience with complex electromechanical hardware in robotics, aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or consumer electronics.
  • Direct experience buying against immature BOMs and managing engineering changes during live builds.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite and PLM tools such as Arena or Enovia.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, pivot tables, shortage modeling, and coverage modeling.
  • Working fluency in reading BOMs and discussing tolerances, finishes, and component specifications with engineers.
  • High urgency, strong follow-through, comfort with incomplete information and changing priorities, and clear communication with engineers, suppliers, and leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail on revisions, dates, and quantities.

Nice to have

  • SQL or BI tooling experience.

Culture & Benefits

  • Cross-functional work with Design Engineering, NPI, Manufacturing, Global Supply Chain, Quality, and Logistics teams.
  • Fast-changing environment supporting prototype development through mass production.
  • Full-time employment with a stated US base salary range of $120,000–$180,000 per year.
